A deflected goal from defender Johannes Flum was enough to earn Freiburg all three points with a 1-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach at the Dreisamstadion.
It was only Freiburg's second win of the season and it denied in-form Gladbach the chance of joining Bayern Munich at the top of the table.
The win also lifts some pressure off Freiburg coach Marcus Sorg, whose side moving out of the bottom three as a result of this success.
Flum scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute with a deflected shot from just outside the penalty area.
